AAU DOES NOT TOLERATE OFFENSIVE BEHAVIOUR
AAU does not tolerate bullying, harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination and threatening, violent, offensive or abusive behaviour. We wish to have a positive and safe work culture at AAU. We will react promptly to all types of enquiries concerning offensive or abusive behaviour.
HOW WE HANDLE OFFENSIVE BEHAVIOUR
This procedure describes how the organisation takes care of staff members who experience offensive behaviour from colleagues, managers or other staff at Aalborg University.
Abusive or offensive behaviour may take different forms. If you feel violated at work, you should attempt to solve the issue through dialogue with the offending party unless the situation is grave. If this does not solve the issue, or the situation is grave, you should contact your immediate superior as soon as possible. If the perpetrator is your manager, you should contact your manager’s superior. You might also contact your union representative, your trade union organisation or your occupational health and safety representative.
Procedure for dealing with offensive behaviour:
- The manager investigates the issue and consults the HR Department when relevant. If the perpetrator is employed at AAU, the perpetrator may be released from their duties during the investigation, depending on the gravity of the situation.
- Together with your union representative or occupational health and safety representative, your manager will make sure you receive the help you need, for example crisis counselling through Dansk Krisekorps.
- If the perpetrator is employed at AAU, the manager and the HR Department will assess whether the incident should have legal implications for the perpetrator’s employment. This assessment will be based on the circumstances and gravity of the incident. Legal implications may be a warning, dismissal or instant dismissal. Any well-founded suspicions of criminal offence will be reported to the police with the consent of the victim.
- Staff members and managers may always contact AAU’s central section for occupational health and safety (firstname.lastname@example.org ) or Head of HR Henrik H. Søndergaard (email@example.com) regarding offensive or abusive behaviour.
You or your manager can always contact the HR department’s section for occupational health and safety (firstname.lastname@example.org) or the Head of HR, Henrik H. Søndergaard on matters concerning offensive actions (email@example.com)
