Most journals and publishers allow authors and co-authors to have one or more organizational affiliations.
Single affiliation
A single affiliation to a department at Aalborg University must be stated as standardized department names without abbreviations.
Example: Department of Electronic Systems, Aalborg University, Aalborg, Denmark (recommended)
Research Centres
Authors and co-authors with research centre affiliations may add the name of the research centre to the affiliation field, if the research is financed or organized by the research centre.
Example: Utzon Research Center, Department of Architecture, Design and Media Technology, Aalborg University, Aalborg, Denmark.
Multiple affiliations
If a researcher is employed by two different departments at Aalborg University, both affiliations must be stated. It is recommended that the affiliations are stated separately rather than in combination - even if the two departments work in close collaboration.
Examples:
Separately (recommended)
1. Department of Oto-rhino-laryngology, Aalborg University Hospital, Aalborg, Denmark
2. Department of Clinical Medicine, Aalborg University, Aalborg, Denmark
Combined (journals that allow one affiliation only)
Departments of Clinical Medicine and Oto-rhino-laryngology, Aalborg University and Aalborg University Hospital, Aalborg, Denmark
Affiliations to other institutions/companies
If an author or co-author is employed by a department at Aalborg University, but has other external affiliations as well, the affiliation to Aalborg University should always be stated separately.
Example:
1. Department of Cardiac Surgery, Childrens Hospital Boston, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA 02138, USA
2. Department of Health Science and Technology, Aalborg University, Aalborg, Denmark
Presentations, posters etc.
It is expected that Aalborg University's logo is visible on all presentations, posters etc.
Purpose and delimitation
Upon submission of manuscripts for publication in journals, books and conferences, all authors and co-authors must ensure correct affiliation to their place of empolyment. The main objective of this guide is to ensure standardisation of names in publications written - or co-written - by employees at Aalborg University.
Affiliation to Aalborg University must be stated in the full text to secure BFI points.
